By interrupting the flow of plastics, debris and garbage as early in the chain of manufacturing and use as early as possible, we are able to leverage our resources most effectively.
This is done through education and finding alternatives to plastics and a "throw away" mentality. Proper supply chains to interrupt these items from ending up in our oceans and streams is also key.

Cuaming Island has NO garbage removal Service
Cuaming Island is a beautiful little island located in the Cebu Strait in the Visayas region of the Philippines. It is home to a little over 3,000 people. The residents of the island are warm, gracious and kind. I immediately fell in love with the place, the hospitable people and the many children that call the island their home; and have for several generations.
The reason I chose this island, is that it's an easy fix. They currently have NO GARBAGE REMOVAL SERVICE. As we know, once garbage, plastic and debris gets into the marine system, the damage is far reaching and catastrophic to marine life, as well as the entire ecosystem. Once microplastics enter the ocean, they contaminate all aspects of our planet, even getting into our fish and eventually into the human body.
Our goal at Save an Island is to not only clean up Cuaming Island, but teach the residents how to do so themselves on an ongoing and sustainable basis.
